Happy (Bank) Holiday!

Public holidays, observed throughout the United Kingdom, are required holidays when most businesses and non-essential services close down. These holidays were first officially observed when the 1871 Bank Holidays Act decided which days should be public holidays in England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Today, the main law that defines holidays is the Banking and Financial Dealings Act 1971.

Bank holidays are holidays when banks and many other businesses are closed for the day. Even though all banks are closed on official bank holidays, many shops remain open.

Monday 25th May is a Bank Holiday and although the Sheppard Library will be open, it will not be  24/7. The Library will close at midnight on Sunday 24th May and on Monday 25th May it will be open from 11am until midnight.

It will re-open as 24/7 on Tuesday 26th May at 8.30am.

Hope that you all have a good day and take the opportunity to visit famous places in London such as these:
